I am From Poem
I am from summer days at my grandparents,
Catching lizards and being outside all day.
I am from baking cookies with my grandmother,
And eating most of them before dinner.
I am from swimming in their pool,
Getting upset when it was time to get out.
I am from going to Disneyland,
Waiting in line for hours.
From eating funnel cake, sundaes, and any other sweets we could find,
And buying matching ears and backpacks.
I am from my friend and I screaming and laughing as we dropped down Splash Mountain,
Already planning another trip as we said goodbye.
I am from summer camping trips with my dad,
Hanging out with our cousins for the weekend.
I am from board games and s'mores,
And swimming in the lake until dark.
I am from tubing on the boat,
Laughing as I watched my family fall off the tube.
I am from going to summer camp,
Making new friends.
I am from bonfires on New Year’s,
Playing with sparklers.
I am from great memories,
And many more to come.
